The author that I chose to write about is Mary Pope Osborne. She is the author of the Magic Tree House series of books. Mrs. Osborne works on this series along with her sister and her husband. She lived in many different places growing up, as her father was in the Military. Unlike other children that moved often, Mary loved moving. She liked the adventure of traveling from place to place, learning new customs, and making new friends.

When her family finally settled, she became bored and found a solace in imagination sparked by a theater group. After college, she ventured to the East where she nearly died of blood poisoning. Upon returning to the United States, she became a window dresser. Years later, she wrote her first book, Run, Run Fast as You Can. It is a young adult novel about a young girl in the South.

To date, she has written over eighty books. Many of these books are adventure books. She has based these books off of her own adventurous nature. The reason that I chose this particular author is that she has brought adventure into my son’s life through reading. Before being introduced to the Magic Tree House series, he never really picked up a book on his own. After reading his first Mary Osborne book, he has read every available Magic Tree House book that he can.
