Red Book, Turning

Today’s class was a fun class. I started off reading the book “Bernstein Bears-The Spooky Old Tree” written by Stan and Jan Bernstein. I choose this book as it pertained to the scary themes in both of the student’s stories.  They each liked the book, even participating in the reading during certain parts.

After we were done with the book, both students asked about my story. I told them that I had the story, but needed help with the title. Right away we went to work to find a catchy title. After many ideas, we came up with a title that is very catchy!

Next, we got to work on the writing process of each student’s story. We referred back to our webs, and gathered ideas for the beginning, and body of our stories. This process went fairly quickly as each student had put a lot of detail into their webs.

When time was up, I explained to the students that I was going to be away in Albuquerque at a teacher conference next week. I told them that I would type up their progress so far, and add a page with their remaining ideas.

Danny will take these two students next week and I will stop by and get their folders from Mrs. Bradshaw so that I can type up the remainder of their stories.

Over all this experience has been very rewarding. I look forward to seeing the end result. These students have been a real joy to work with!
