Picture Book-"The Story of Ferdinand" by Munro Leaf This is a story of a bull that does not want to fight. He just wants to sit and smell the flowers. He is teased by other bulls.

 

Picture Book-"Harry the Dirty Dog" by Gene Zion Harry gets into trouble when he does not want his bath. He gets so dirty that his own family does not recognize him. See if Harry’s family will ever recognize him.

 

Picture Book-"The Lorax" by Dr. Seuss This is a book about environment. A whole ecosystem is disrupted when an industry moves in and cuts down the Truffula Trees. See if things can be reversed in time to re-grow an environment.

 

Picture Book-"What Do You Do With a Tail Like This?" By Robin Page and Steve Jenkins Have you ever payed attention to animals and their different body parts? This is a guessing book that teaches students to observe animals. Students try to guess which part matches with which animal.

 

Folktales- "Shake it, Morena! : and other folklore from Puerto Rico" by Carmen T. Bernier-Grand. This is a fun book that I picked up when I was in Puerto Rico. It talks about how music is important in Puerto Rican culture. The book is filled with games, learning, and counting. The pictures are great, and it reminded me of the upbeat atmosphere that I experienced when I was there.

 

Folktales- "The Three Snow Bears", by Jan Brett This is a cute spin on Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It takes place in Alaska where a stranded sledder wonders into a polar bears home.

 

Folktales- "Burro’s Tortillas", by Terri Fields. This is a funny book that I borrowed from the library, it is a spin on the Little RED HEN. This Burro wants to make tortilla out of corn but he cannot find a friend that would help him with the process.

 

Folktales- "The Three Swingin' Pigs" by Vicky Rubin This is another book that I got at the library. It is a funny twist on the Three Little Pigs. These pigs like Jazz and are trying to make the wolf hip. If you like music, you will like this book.

Folktales- Holy Mole! : A Folktale from Mexico by Caroline McAlister So do you want to know where Mole came from? Probably not where this book claims it does. This is a funny story about an ophan that accidently created a “miracle”.

 

Animate-"Star Wars Legacy", by John Ostrander & Jan Duursema Luke Skywalker’s son was a jedi when he turned away from the Jedi ways. He then gets pursued by a Sith that wants him to turn to the Dark Side. There is conflict that follows because of it.

 

Animate-"Star Wars Empire Volume Two", by Paul Chadwick A person is on the side of the Empire (the Dark Side) and eventually turns from the Dark side to combat evil or the Empire.

 

Animate-"Star Wars Dark Times Volume One", by Welles Hartley Clone troopers for the Empire turn on their former leader. The leader makes it out alive, and joins with the separatist. One of the main separatist looses his wife and child when they are sold into slavery and later eaten.

 

Animate-"Ultimate Spider-man Volume 17" by Brian Michael Bendis Have you ever what it would be like if you could clone yourself? Peter Parker has clones and they are ment to help him make light of his work load. If they could only help him with girlfriend problems.

 

Science Fiction- "Attack of the Evil Elvis’s" by Dan Greenburg, Is Elvis trying to take over the world? This book is sooooo funny. It is a book about Alien friends who run into a bunch of Elvis impersonators in of all places Las Vegas. The alien friends argue on weather Elvis, or rather his look alike are up to no good. They find out that their gut feeling is right. See why these Elvis look-alikes are bad, and who they really are.
