Autobiography/Biography-Walt Disney”, Saddleback Educational Publishing (Editor) This was an exciting story about the man behind Disney Theme Parks. You can follow the life of a man that wanted to create a place where people or rather families could go in order to spend time with each other.

 

Fantasy-“Half Magic”, by Edward Eager, illustrated by N. M. Bodecker

This book is about two sisters that find a coin in the middle of the street. By accident, the girls find out that the coin they have found grants wishes. The girls notice that the coin only works a part of the time. Find out what they do to remedy this situation.

Fantasy-“David and the Phoenix”, by Edward Ormondroyd, illustrated by Joan Raysor  A young boy gets a big surprise when he discovers a huge bird that looks strange and can read. This strange bird and the boy set out on many fun, adventurous journeys.

Fantasy-“Ella Enchanted”, written by Levine, G. This is a book that has a spin on the Cinderella story, a young girl named Ella has been cursed with a curse to obey any command that she is given. You will have to read this funny book to see what kind of trouble that this curse gets her into.

 

Picture Book-"Lizards for Lunch: A Roadrunner’s Tale", by Conrad J. Storad This is a good book that can be used when studying our state bird. It has wonderful pictures depiction the habitat of a Roadrunner. It also talks about his cunning way that he catches his favorite snack…the lizard.

 

Picture Book-"Delicious!" By Helen Cooper What is pink soup? The recipe is in the book. This book is a good lesson for students that only like certain kinds of food.

 

Picture Book-"Have You Seen My Cat?" By Eric Carle Eric Carle has done it again. He has a young boy that is in search of his cat. It is a wonderful depiction of hide and seek within a picture book.

 

Picture Book- "Emma's Story" by Deborah Hodge A little girl wonders why she is different than her family. She asks why she looks different. Her Grandmother explains that her parents traveled may miles to get a baby girl that they had longed for.

 

Picture Book-"Sam Gets Lost", by Mary Labatt Sam likes his people, but when he wonders away from the car during a road trip, he realizes that all he really wants is to be home with his family.

 

Picture Book-"Good Night Moon" by Margaret Wise Brown This is a good book to read at bed time. It is filled with wonderful pictures and soothing tales that are sure to lull any child to sleep.

 

Picture Book-"A Puppy for Annie" by Kim Lewis, This is a great book about responsibility. A young girl gets a young Boder Collie. Her mom helps her to learn how to take of the puppy. The puppy learns how to behave, They make a great match.

 

Picture Book-"Click, Click, Moo: Cows that Type" by: Doreen Cronin This goes with Cronin’s other book Giggle Giggle Quack. Instead of Farmer Brown having problems with Duck, he is having trouble with his typing cows. They are demanding! See how it ends for Farmer Brown and the Typing Cows.

 

Picture Book-"Gossie" by Dunrea Oliver Have you ever had a pair of shoes that you really liked? This little goose has a pair of red boots that she likes to wear every day. A problem comes into place when her shoes are not there.

 

Picture Book-"Swimmy" by Leo Lionni Swimmy is the only black fish in his whole school. It is a book about being different and making a difference. See how Swimmy wants to make the ocean safer for the school.
