This was a fun class meeting. Francis introduced Mrs. Smith's class to the thrill of the Iditorod Sled race in Alaska.
We looked up the winners and watched clips of the dogs and their trainers as they set out on a journey of a life time. Francis
eplained to them that they were to pick a book for their new reading project.
After watching the clip the students were able to pick from two books: "The Prince and the Pond" and "Woodsong".
The students chose "Woodsong" by Gary Paulsen. It is a story about a man and his sled dogs.
I think that they chose it because they were excited about the Iditorod Sled race.
